The development trend of the modern large and automatic ships requires the shipboard power system should possess higher quality of power supply, stability and reliability. The shipboard power system is an independent power network with complex structure and limited capacity, which causes it to be vulnerable. So it is a typical nonlinear system. But marine synchronous generators still generally use traditional PI or PID analog excitation regulators which are unable to meet the increasingly rigorous performance requirements of the shipboard power system. In view of this situation, this thesis researches and designs a fuzzy adaptive PID digital excitation regulator according to the China Classification Society’s "Rules for Classification of Sea-going Steel Ships2009", aiming to improve the stability and reliability of the shipboard power system.Basing on the collected references, this thesis firstly analyses the functions and tasks of the marine synchronous generators’ excitation system, and studys the principle of the phase compound excitation brushless excitation device, automatic excitation regulator and excitation adjustment device; Secondly, this paper studys the principle of the PID controller parameter tuning methods and the principle of the fuzzy controller, and then combines the tow kinds controllers designing a fuzzy parameters adaptive tuning PID excitation controller; Thirdly, a design proposal of the digital excitation regulator which uses the TMS320F2812DSP chip as the control core is put forward, and the hardware circuit and the software flow path for the excitation regulator is designed; Finally, the simulation model of the fuzzy parameters adaptive tuning PID excitation controller is built by MATLAB/SIMULINK to research its control effect.The simulation result proves that the fuzzy parameters adaptive tuning PID excitation controller, compared with the traditional PID excitation controller, could effectively accelerate the response speed of the marine generator’s excitation device, enhance the control precision of the generator terminal voltage and the stability of the shipboard power system.
