AVR is the absolutely necessary equipment of ship power station. It is well known that power performance of ship power station decreases dramatically, even the equipment cannot work smoothly because of the special work environment and the interference of many factors faced by network of ship.Traditional analog excitation regulator has the features of poor regulation performance, regulation accuracy and real-time communication with engine room monitoring system absence, so it has been eliminated by ship system which bears better automation. New digital automatic voltage regulator system based on micro-computer control has been come out.In this thesis, the changing reasons of generator terminal voltage were discussed, so were the solutions. Thanks to the theory, synchronous generator AVR based on DSP2812 has been designed. This AVR which used DSP2812 as the main control chip carried out a FFT analysis on AC sampling results of network voltage and electronic current to control switching device through PWM ware which comes from PID control of the analysis results. Besides, the design chose IGBT as the new switching device.Theory of this digital AVR, ship network voltage and electronic current sampling as well as the interface adjustment of VC have been improved by pervious graduated students. This thesis realized the entire hardware and software design of the AVR. Moreover, the whole design process has been introduced in detail. Part of the AVR test and verify experiment has been carried out smoothly in WHUT Ship Power Plant Lab, and a sound result has also been reached finally.
