The Decoration Art Research Of Fireplace In Chinese Interior Space

The fireplace is a typical western interior design element. It has useful function as well as decorative functions. As an interior element with a long history, it’s developed with the evolution of architectural design and the development of interior design. The western-style indoor fireplace spreads to China through a long process. Since the outbreak of the Opium War, under the ideological influence and promotion of Western architecture, the traditional Chinese architecture and interior design started to enter the modern development process. I have carried out some research on the decorative arts and features of the indoor fireplace and the key findings are as follows:1. The fireplace’s development and evolution in modem Chinese is divided into three stages. First stage is the infancy stage, from1840to1949, that is, from the Opium War to the founding of New China; second is the transitional period, from1949to1976, the founding of New China to the reform and opening up; third is the developmental period, from1976to the modern times. The thesis introduces the social background, the spreading way, the concrete representation, the reflection of the society and so on. The development process of China’s modern interior design, on the one hand, is the continuation and development of traditional interior design style, on the other hand, is because of the spread and influence of the Western interior design ideas. These two trends interact and integrate with each other, and at a result constitute the main line of the development.2. The thesis discussed in detail the performance of fireplace in the modern interior design style, including a variety of indoor style introduced from abroad and some Chinese decorative features in the indoor style. There are many outstanding design achievements of the Chinese and foreign designers, which clearly show the development thread of the design field.3. The thesis takes the fireplace used in the decorative arts of the space as a research focus, and explores the decorative use and aesthetic characteristics of different spaces. The thesis lists and describes in detail the specific implementation process in many cases, and gives a vivid picture of the scene. There are similarities and differences in the decorative fireplaces in different spaces, which are explained from the perspective of material, function, and spatial characteristics and many other aspects.4. The thesis introduces the new technologies of the modern fireplace. As an ancient interior decoration element, once fireplace combined with the modern high technology, it will have a great influence upon the space decorative arts.
