In this paper, a surface treatment production line of Xi’an Aero Engine Co. wastaken as the project background. Considering of shortcomings of poor automation andinsecurity in domestic surface treatment production line monitoring system, this paper didthe work of research and design for the automatic monitoring system. The system couldachieve the integration control demands of the vehicular, power supply and cathodemobile device in the production line, so as to monitor and control the process ofproduction.By analyzing the requirements of system and uses of advanced control theories, areasonable overall control program was developed in the paper on basis of summaries ofthe research and application experience in the industry. Then hardware structure wasdesigned and control circuits of each device were put forward. Finally the systemsoftware architecture was designed and programming was completed, with man machinemonitoring interface designed. At last the communication configuration between IPCand the the field control layer was completed. Main work of the paper is as follows:(1) A basic monitoring program consist of a field control layer, process layer, andmanagement was developed, combining filed bus control mode with hierarchical controltheory;(2) Taking advantages of long-distance, stability and reliability of fiber-opticcommunications, the paper developed a communication system based on optical fibertechnology and PPI protocol. The signal conversion is done by fiber converter technology.The communication system can reduce the impact of electromagnetic interferenceon the signal transmission, so as to meet the surface treatment of theharsh environment of the shop floor.(3) A set of intelligent operation system based on the production line of PLC andMCGS was developed. The staff simply set the process parameters in the central controlroom. Workers can control the entire production line equipment operation byselecting the process.The surface treatment plant equipment and monitoring system has been fully appliedin October2011. Site feedback shows that automatic monitoring system is running well,and vehicular, power control equipment is reliable and stable. Man-machine interface is simple to understand and able to meet production demands and control requirements forworkers to operate.
