Planning Approach Based On Zhengzhou Shang Sites In The Old Town Protection Under The Influence Of Research

In human’s history, city, in terms of its formation and function, is the second significant cultural innovation which just comes after language. It not only concentrates history of regional culture, but also specifically manifests its growth and development. City, just like language, boasts abundant characteristics and varieties, and what’s more, it gives outstanding positions to regional culture and key thoughts.People nowadays don’t know when industrialization and boilerplate became the key manifestation of material civilization. With increasingly improved technologies and constantly accumulated fortunes and wealth, it seems that people have already abandoned spiritual civilization, which does not play a leading role any more. However, things without spirit are like bodies without souls, the stronger outside, and the weaker inside. It’s the same with mankind and city. For the latter one, it needs spirit and souls that history entrusted, and demands more of profundity that human being’s activities endowed. It’s understandable that old areas (core historical areas) of a city can shoulder the responsibility. Cultural relics and civilization footprints such as ancient walls and buildings, streets with long history, traditional residents with plain looks, and magnificent buildings with profound history form the material space of old areas of the city. They are not just shells, but souls bearing memories and history of civilization.The Zhengzhou-based relics of the capital of Shang Dynasty, which has3,600-year history, is the core of Zhengzhou spirit, and breeds the people of the city one generation after another. Protection and plan of relics not only requires giving consideration to discovery of relics and protection of major body, but also attaching importance to harmony of the surrounding environment and center. The plan is based on understanding and integration of space. By employing the existing theories, the thesis expects to provide reference and ideas for historical and cultural areas planning.First of all, the thesis interprets the title, showing the necessity and value of the study. Then, the author, who makes researches and analysis on related basic theories, analyzes and summarizes the unique and available methods in planning by integrating domestic and overseas excellent cases, which hence offers foundation and experience to protection of the capital of Shang Dynasty later. Finally, by analyzing the old areas of Zhengzhou City and the capital of the Shang Dynasty, the author finds out the principal immanent contradiction of the planned relics. And based on the previous theoretical researches, case study and status surveys, the author proposes an explicit development direction and strategies for protection of the ruin of the capital of the Shang Dynasty according to the features of old areas of Zhengzhou City and the capital of the Shang Dynasty. Besides, the author brings pragmatic protection methods and reasonable ways for utilization by incorporating situation of historical and cultural relics in old areas of Zhengzhou with factors that influence protection of the capital of the Shang Dynasty.
