The slope stability analysis of red sandstone and strengthening protection hasbecome a difficult problem that needs to be solved urgently. And the shear strengthparameters is very important for the slope stability analysis and the disposal, if theparameters using in calculated selected more large than the actual, it may bemistaken for the stable slope stability and cause risk; If it’s smaller than actual, itmay judge the stable slope as unstable, and leading the conservative processingmeasures and waste of material and financial resources. The thesis chooses the redsandstone slope of JiHuai expressway as an example. Using the numerical analysismethod for the shear strength parameters of red sandstone; On this basis, puttingforward a reasonable, safe and reliable initiative support method. The main researchwork and the conclusions are as follows.(1)The red sandstone color of the area mainly dominated by deep red andpurple-red, its main part is kaolinite mineral particles through the study of theformation and characteristics of red sandstone, The red sandstone structure withmore varying degree of differentiation, its formation is generally for the alternatinglayers of soft and hard rock.(2)Modified the formula of the slope stability analysis theory, and obtained theinversion formula by transfer coefficient method ,the simple slice method and theBishop method.(3)Without taking into account the influence of groundwater, and using theinversion formula of the methods for parameters of inversion, at the same time withthe numerical analysis method for parameter inversion. Through the analysis ofresults, it can be seen that the numerical analysis method calculated results is morereasonable than the others; Considering the pore pressure of the groundwater,Through the analysis of results, it can be seen that the influence of the groundwateris tremendous to the shear strength parameters of the slope, the influence ofgroundwater to cohesion reached 34.6%, and the effect of friction reached 38.9%.(4)Designing the rock bolt for the slope; Using the numerical analysis software toanalog the slope , it can draw the conclusion that the anchor plays a significant rolesin supporting the slope and make the coefficient of stability to reach a limitationprescribed in the project.(5)Arranging the orthogonal test to optimize anchor ,it comes to a conclusion that the parameters of anchor impacted on the stability of slope are ranged in descendingorder: the length of anchor, the tilt of the anchor and the spacing of anchor; the bestcombination among these main anchor parameters is that the length of anchor is 9meters ,the spacing of anchor is 3.5meters and the tilt of anchor is 25°.
