Tugboat assistance becomes more and more important. Tug simulator research also attracts much attention. However, there are many of the current tug simulators. Towed ship model and tugboat model are crowded in the same process. The simulation interface is too "crowded". With the development of tug simulator research, it will be extended to one towed ship and many tugboats. Computation becomes complex, it is difficult to coordinate in the same process. Therefore, different models can be run on different computers, and then realize interaction via inter-process communication technology. This thesis researches collaborative work mechanism of multi-ownship in tug simulator. Towed ship model and tugboat model are in the different processes. The interactive data are appropriate and transferred in different ownships via named pipe. Finally the different models realize interaction. The main contributions of this thesis summarized as follows.(1) This thesis combines the IPC mechanism from the stability, scalability and other aspects. Named pipe can achieve the goal of this thesis.(2) This thesis creates the named pipe and transfers the data via the created named pipe. At the same time, this thesis analyzes the operating environment of named pipe, provides the steps to create the named pipe server and client, and shows the method for reading and writing the interactive data. Finally, this thesis completes the system and validates the stability of the system.(3) This thesis achieves the inter-process communication of ownship’s mathematical models based on the platform for tug pushing operation. This thesis achieves one to many communication modes of named pipe are via overlapped I/O. The simulation researches demonstrate the effectiveness of the designed collaborative work mechanism.
