With the fierce competitive of consumer markets, the standard for consumers to evaluate consumption products has improved. The continuous increase of consumers’ demands leads to the researches of the Kansei engineering which is oriented to the feelings and demands of consumers. The theory of Kansei engineering and its related research methods are playing a significant role in modern products design.Unlike the feeling era of the end of the 20th century, the consumer market in the 21st century has entered a new era which is much deeper than the feeling age. With the improved of consumption level, people have attached more attention to small articles in furnitures. In order to conforming to this trend, this thesis attempts to explore small furniture handles and hopes to provide some implications to more designers.Firstly, the author of this thesis collects many furniture handles with various shapes from furniture markets and makes a thorough summary. Then it provides necessary information including the origin of Kansei engineering, research methods and procedures is presented. This thesis focuses on analyzing the relationship between handles and their emotional images from the three designing factors they are shape, dimensional scale and texture. Finally, this thesis manages to combine the practical analysis of Kansei engineering with shapes design of handles, thus providing the guidelines for handles design. Based on the theory of Kansei engineering, the thesis use research methods which including questionnaires, semantic differential method and factor analysis to get representative imagery vocabularies. To a certain extent build a relationship between emotional image and the products characteristics, In addition, a designing experience is carried out.
