Explore The Architectural Expression Of Urban Culture

As a kind of multi-type cultural buildings, the constructions of culture&artscenter have already turned into a high-speed developing period with the speeding up ofour country’s urbanization progress. But as the construction volume of culture&artscenter increased year by year, various uneven quality of culture&arts center alsobegan to reveal to the public. Problems of culture&arts center construction arebeginning to receive attention. This paper firstly summarized the domestic and foreignsituation of the culture&arts center construction and its basic functions and types.Then analyzed the problems arising in the culture&arts center construction progressin our country and proposed the crux of the problems—lacking of the attention to cityculture in the construction process.Probed into the culture oriented city developmentstrategy, the paper then demonstrated the improtance of city culture in the Culture&Arts Center construction progress and their mutual interaction.After the analyzing of the proper urban roles that culture&arts center shouldplay,the paper put forward the urban culture expressing design strategy of culture&artcenter.It was divided into three parts to discuss: the premise condition, design principleand the specific design strategies.These three parts presented a gradually deepeningprocess which is from the theory to the practice. The premise condition part proposedthe necessary condition of expressing the urban culture in culture&arts center: thetraditional culture inheritance and update of oriented city cultural systemconstruction,rich and organic construction of the whole urban culture space and adesign principle which guided by city life.Then,the paper summarized the culture&arts center design principle which was guided by urban culture from analyzing thecharacteristics of urban culture and culture&arts center.It proposed basic principles ofexpressing urban culture on culture&arts center，such as functional characteristics,morphological characteristics, space construction, site order and so on. The specificdesign strategies part was divided into six aspect with the corresponding cases in andabroad: function orientation, construction site, overall layout, architectural form,function, space construction and deal of the details.The final part of paper is about a case of design practice which was completed bythe writer along with the tutor—Zigong Culture&Arts Center. It was a practical caseof the design strategies proposed previously. This part introduced and summarized the using progress of the specific design strategies.
