Have you heard that architectures can transform? For a long time, theimpressions of architectures are always endurable and concretionary, no matter thearchitectures are smart or huge. They stood where they were built up just like cavitysculptures and got ready for eternal. Their steady bodies may be strong enough forfighting with bad weathers and time. Everyone wants to be another Temple ofParthenon or Egypt Pyramid, venerated by people after thousands of years. But in fact, not matter the theoretical aesthetic trends or the practical requirements offunctionalism can easily destroy their eternal dreams. As the age wave rushing, thepure endurance and concretion will only leads architecture to ruin. Youngarchitectures’ demolishing are already common for us and the immutable and frozencity impressions also make people feel boring. Only the transformation can infusenew blood to save architectures. Today the transform architectures are alreadybecoming a reality. The advantages of their flexibility, adaptability and controllabilityfor future can cover the shortages of traditional architectures. They have flexiblespace, beautiful and changeable appearance. They are the active factors of city, andwill bring new vitally to the city. We will meet a new revolution, the revolution oftransformable architectures!Transformable architecture is a newborn thing. People will pay close attention toit’s social needs and practicability, which will be the cores of this article. In chaptertwo, the analysis of traditional architectures’ shortcomings will lead to the socialneeds of transformable architectures and introduce the question why we needtransformable architecture. In chapter three and four, I will narrate the theories andtransform principles to analysis the question, to prove that transformable architectureis practicable. In chapter five, I will introduce every kind of transformablearchitectures from the aspects of examples, technologies and so on. And I will analyzeand solve the problems that block the realizing of transformable architectures inchapter six. The last chapter is about looking forward to the future.
