China’s reform and opening up is facing many difficulties after32years and is in atransition period now. Changing the industrial structure and developing highvalue-added industries is the future trend. The demand for various professional andtechnology talent of the society is gradually increasing. In this context, the highvocational and technical education is taken seriously. A large number of the Campusof Vocational and Technical College need reconstruction, addition or newly built.There is a vacancy in the theory study of the planning and construction of theVocational and Technical College campus. Most of them using the same assessmentindicators and building system with the universities and this cause many unreasonableconstruction and waste of resources. I had the privilege of access to the planningdesign of Vocational Education Center in the city of Zhaotong of Yunnan provincewhen I worked in the Design Institute. This paper is based on this work and analyzedand summarized the planning and design of the Vocational and Technical collegecampus.The five chapters of my thesis are as follows:Chapter one is an introduction of the background, meanings, contents and methods ofthe researches in this essay.In chapter two, we will look back into the history of vocational education home andabroad and make an analysis. Through a better understanding of vocational education,we can be inspired and instructed in the practical work of planning and design.From the development of Chinese and foreign history of vocational education, thevocational education and society are closely related. Usually there will be avocational education according to what society needs. Vocational education paysmore attention to practical training. The "duales system" resulting in Germany is thevocational education model which is a good combination of teaching and practice. Chapter three is the study of the theory of vocational college campus planning. Itmainly discusses from the theory of the campus planning, the features of seniorvocational colleges, the sub-systems of the campus and the architecture design. Theresearch is based on the comparisons between common universities and seniorvocational and technical colleges and finding the similarities and differences betweenthem. Then the theoretical basis of the planning design can be built.Chapter four makes a detailed description and analysis of the planning and design ofthe vocational education center in Zhaotong, from which we can see the use of thetheory in the actual design. The total of the whole design has gone through fourstages, which is from initial exploration to be matured.Chapter five is the conclusion. The limitations and shortcomings of the research anddesign has been analyzed in this chapter. It also indicated the achievements and valueof this thesis and predicted the future trends of the planning and design for seniorvocational and technical colleges. |
