Study On Boundary Region Of Historic District

Historic district renewal project has being bringing on in China as the resultof higher living standard and emphasize of the cultural value. Yet research hasshown a dilemma between conserving and developing. The standard process ofhistoric district focuses on mainly the core conservation area and overlooks theedge to the city. Based on the established regulation and success renewal practice,the thesis focuses on the boundary region and tries to analyze it.The research framework is as follows: Chapter one introduces the back-ground and brings up two fields-historic district and boundary region. Chaptertwo questions the definition of boundary region and its range. Chapter three is thecase study of chosen historic district site and analysis on architectural and spaceform. Chapter four extracts other elements that have influence on the boundaryregion, and align them in three categories. Chapter five follows the classificationof chapter four and try to use a evaluation model. Chapter six discusses theTaizhou urban design project and its spatial strategies.
