The Research Of Tectonic In Building Skin And Its Inspiration

In the 21st century, the economic development and the process of urbanization in China keep accelerating. Numerous high-rise buildings have been constructed during the last decade. High-speed development makes some architects run after the high efficiency in construction blindly and ignore improving the design quality. The negative thinking in postmodernism has also produced adverse effect to the architectural design practices in China. According to this situation, some architects who are visionary introduce the tectonic into China in order to improve the relatively low level of architectural design. This paper describes the basic content and the development of tectonic first, at the same time, catches the core ideas of it to emphasize that construction work under tectonic field has great significance of architectural design practice. Subsequently, this paper selects building skin under tectonic field to summarize the methods and ideas in design which are based on ways of building, such as structures, material and construction. It also can show the close relationship between tectonic and design practices.After clarifying the tectonic in building skin, this paper continues to sort out and analyze the characteristics show in these building skin designs of Tianjin Xiangluo Bay Business District by the analysis method summarized above. It is order to conclude the status of domestic building skin design. With taking building skin as example to extend the meaning of tectonic, the ultimate goal of this paper is to try finding the positive meaning and inspiration for architectural design practices in China.
