The non-uniformity settlement of ground foundation is harmful to the building, it may causewall, and even collapses of whole or local building, which threaten to the house normal use andthe people’s life and property. Therefore, correctly understanding the harm of non-uniformitysettlement to the building, thoroughly analyzing the reason of the accidents, and proposingeffective preventing countermeasures, have a great theoretical significance andengineering application value.In concluding on the basis of existing research results and experience of engineeringaccidents instance, the paper analyzed the causes that cause differential settlement of building orstructure foundation, sums up the common foundation differential settlement characteristics andscope of reinforcement approach; in Shaanxia power plant in the province of a large number ofbuildings or structure sinking problem analysis to identify the cause of the accident, building orstructure treatment programs; selected through the program, mentioning that the optimal solution;by numerical simulation using FLAC software to analyze the1#cooling tower, and then verify thefeasibility of processing.The research results on the differential settlement analysis and treatment programs in thefoundation of the existing buildings or structure, as well as similar projects deal with the accidentis an important reference value.
