The city, today, is like a book to be turned over, and many people will be lured tothe underground streets. The underground commercial street is the main form of the cityunderground streets, and is common underground places in which people can stay for along time. This thesis aims at the remarkable point of underground commercial street:the lost of the direction, and mainly research on the design of the legibility.In the thesis, it first defines the concept of the underground commercial street, andanalyses the characteristic and identification of the environment recognition of theunderground commercial street. This thesis mainly researches on the affective factor ofthe underground commercial street. In detail, the author classified the design points ofthe legibility design and puts forward two ways to classify the design points of theunderground business street: one is the relations of the inner and outer part, whichmeans the entrance and the inner street environment;the other is the component factor,which means the street image factor and the environment form factor.The first classification mainly discusses the design principle and policy, and putsforward the strengthen of the whole order and the corresponding relation to other citiesaccording to entrance form and the inner street form. The second classificationresearches the component, and discusses the design methods according to the relatedtheory: first use the city image taxonomy of Kevin Lynch to deduce the five imagefactors of underground commercial street: path, district, edge, node, landmark; theimage factors and the environment form factors(interface, illumination, color, thedirection inducement mark)infiltrates each other, architecture design and interior designeffect together, finally established the identifiable cognition map of the undergroundcommercial street.According to the discussion, this paper concludes the form of the undergroundcommercial street, which needs all the component factors’ effect, and be mainly basedon the architecture design, interior design as the complement and the non-architecturedesign ways as the supplement. The design should be based on people’ s perceive, andcreates the harmonious, orderly and exciting underground business street environment.
