Products as a necessities for people in modern people’s life plays an important role, it serve thepeople by the minute. However the fast-paced lifestyles to product design brings new problems, forthe products of people begin unrestrained consumption and waste, the designer of the product was areplacement for is to meet the people’s changing and improving taste. Function of complex shape,fancy design popular in the market, the design appeared on certain level imbalance, this situation ismore make people start to face their own attitudes, reflect on their behavior, designers have to designthe original intention to rethink, then the" empty" design philosophy began to be widely pay attentionto.In this paper how to" empty" concept to better application in the product design asthe main research object, based on the idea of" empty" the connotation of the excavation,combined with product design needs goals, summed up the " empty" concept productdesign mode of thinking and methods, and in a series of methods under the guidance ofcompleted two design examples, validating the theoretical study of the practical andrationality.The study to" empty" concept of the origin and history of the profoundphilosophical thought has conducted in-depth research, and through the analysis andappraisal of the Chinese traditional art forms" empty" Application of the ideas andmodern art design in the form of" empty", with "empty" concept related comparison ofdesign form, make clear further " empty" design concept.
