Balancing The Preservation And Use Of Heritages In Urban Center

The Temple of Heaven is one of the World Cultural Heritage and thebiggest public green space in the south part of Beijing. It has been the mostimportant outdoor space of the residents of Beijing in nowadays. To be theWorld Heritage in the urban center, the daily visitors’ activities have broughtgreat impact to the environment of the World Cultural Heritage interpretationand the buildings in the south part of the Temple of Heaven will be dismantledand moved out recently, so the staff of the managing committee of the Templeof Heaven has to think about how to use the land. But there are some problemsin the play ground design by them. So, it is important to find out how to dealwith the play ground design in the outer of the Temple of Heaven.The thesis tries to find out the balance between the heritage preservationand the daily visitors’ activities from two aspects. One of them is to analysewhich part of the Temple of Heaven can support daily visitors’ activities, andhow many activities it can support, the other is to find out appropriate playground type which the daily visitors would like. By using the Literaturesearch method, Observation and Interview sample，the author analyses thepresent situation and concludes several types of play grounds and the types ofthe daily activities in the Temple of Heaven to arrive at the venue of theproposed type of distribution area. In succession, the author gives theguidelines to the design of various types of venues. Basing on the above sumof management within the region of the Temple of Heaven, the author alsogives the type of venues within the present jurisdictions of the managingcommittee of the Temple of Heaven some advises on how to improve thequality of the play ground in the Temple of Heaven.At last, according to the above researches and the positioning of differentparts of the Temple of Heaven, the author proposed landscape planning of theOuter of the Temple of Heaven, then chooses two samples which have prominent of current problems and uses the guidelines to improve them.
