Tire modeling is very important for vehicle simulation. In this paper, based on formerworks on some key issues on tire modal parameter model, researches on some key issuesare carried out. Tire static vertical model on flat surface and drum is established.Experiment results prove those tire repeated-root modes truly exist. The effects ofrepeated-root and tread model on modeling are analyzed. The comparison of simulationand test result shows the correctness and effectiveness. The details of the paper include:An automatic hammering manipulating system for tire modal testing is designed. Theradial-lateral or tangential-lateral coupled modal parameters can be better extracted by thishammer exciting system.Tire modal test techniques are researched. Test and data processing methods onradial-lateral and tangential-lateral coupled modal parameters and repeated-roots areemphasized.Static vertical tire model on flat surface and drum is established. Aiming on the biasbetween simulation result of existing model and test, the effects of repeated-root mode areanalyzed and results show that repeated-root can be neglected. Based on the contactdynamics analysis, tread model is improved. Comparison of test simulation results showthe consistence of vertical/horizontal force distribution in foot-print, spindle sink andfoot-print length.Through the researches in this paper, static vertical tire model and tire modal testmethod are improved. These works provide good base and reference on the followingresearched on tire modeling, including rolling, cornering and envelop properties.
