Abstract/Summary:
The product quality of aluminium alloy has been affected by the inclusions and the application is also hampered. On-line detecting inclusions fast will help to adjust the technology and control the level of inclusions in production process in time. At present the evaluation can be given by many methods and equipments, but most of them belong to“detection after casting”, they don’t have the ability of on-line detecting fast. Some foreign on-line fast detection equipments are expensive and the maintenance is complex. Therefore using these equipments at the scene is inconvenient. The purpose of this study is to design the technology and system, which can be used for on-line detecting inclusions in aluminum melt fast.The basic principle of capacity analysis is used in this paper. The basic theory of mechanical designing, autocontrol technology, software technology and research methods of materials science are also adopted for this study. Studies are as follows: 1) The hardware of on-line inclusion detection equipment of aluminum melt was built. The constant temperature and stable pressure can be ensured while testing, alse the real-time filtration rate of aluminum melt is recorded. At last the rate can be used for distinguishing the content of inclusions in aluminum melt; 2) The software Amits 1.0 was designed using Visual Basic 6.0. The RS232 communicattion method can meet the needs of hardwares to control temperature, pressure and save weight data. Data editing and dealing functions as well as other functions are also included.Upon completion of debugging the equipment, some melt experiments were done, through which the result that the equipment can distinguish different content of inclusions in aluminum melt was verified. The impact of temperature, thickness of the ceramic foam filter and vacuum degree on detecting sensitivity were analysised, which can provide basis for further updates and industrialization. The results showed that: 1) The lower temperature will help improve the sensitivity. For pure aluminum or aluminum alloy 10-30℃higher than its melting point is appropriate. 2) The thicker filter will help to improve the sensitivity. At a vacuum degree of 95KPa, pore of 65ppi, bottom diameter of 14mm, the filter thickness of about 25mm can obtain a high sensitivity without increasing the size of crucible; 3)The greater the vacuum value, that is the smaller the filter pressure, the higher sensitivity will be got. With pore of 65ppi, filter thickness of 25mm, the vacuum degree of 95KPa, it has got a very high sensitivity, it’s hard to increase sensitivity by this way; 4) The“Decelerating Effect”is the intrinsic factor having impact on sensitivity, that is the factors which can slow the filtration rate of aluminum melt can increase the sensitivity. 5) With pore of 65ppi, the properties that filter thickness of 25mm, the vacuum degree of 95KPa, temperature of 680℃can help current equipment finish detecting of pure aluminium and get a high sensitivity.
