To increase insulation of the motor laminations, it requires insulating coating on the surface of electrical steel layer. Lamination coating which is coated on silicon steel forms no-conductive coating. Currently, the major development trend abroad is that they adopt semi-inorganic coating and use water as solvent, which can reduce costs and is conducive to environmental protection. Compared with solvent-based lamination coating, water-soluble lamination coating is low-cost, non-volatile pollution, non-potential of fire. Compared with organic and inorganic lamination coating, semi-inorganic lamination coating has some advantages, that its thickness is adjustable, it has certain insulating property at high-temperature, good punching and bonding property.In this paper, it obtains water-soluble matrix resin through preparing the rosin modified phenolic resin, and mixes water-soluble resin and nanometer TiO2 powder, in a certain way, to prepare type I water-soluble semi-inorganic lamination coating successfully.Different dispersion medium, stirring, feeding sequence will affect the properties of liquid paint and coating film after curing. Their influences are studied and the best formula is decided. Compared with imported coating, the results indicate that the character of liquid paint is similar to import section, In electric insulation, adhesion and water resistance, the properties of coating film after curing reache the level of imported coating.And the thermal stability of the type I is even better than the imported coating.In order to reduce the cost of the coating, mixes water-soluble resin and lithopone to prepare type II water-soluble semi-inorganic lamination coating. The results indicate that most characters of type II water-soluble semi-inorganic lamination coating is as good as type I. The thermal stability of type II is not as good as type I but still better than the imported coating. Type II water-soluble semi- inorganic lamination coating can instead of type I water-soluble semi-inorganic lamination coating totally.
