Abstract: Short electric arc milling technique (SEAMT) is a kind of non-contactmethod to remove surface material of workpiece by arc discharge,and it is anon-traditional machining process. The process mode is not affected by the hardness,strength, toughness, restricting of the material. It has high machining efficiency and abright future in application.(SEAMT) is a very important branch field of special processing technique. Andshort electric arc milling (SEAM) belong to the short electric arc machining technique.It is more and more widely applied in industrial production, almost involves everyaspect of manufacturing industry. So it is favored by the majority of enterprises. Thestate and the autonomous region have invested a lot of manpower and resources toactively carry out relevant research and extension work.This paper focus on the research, development and application of the NC systemof the short electric arc NC milling machine.Designed and developed the millingmachine of NC system, and finally completed the hardware and software debuggingof the system and the workpiece machining work.l) Through the analysis of mechanical structure and control structure of shortelectric arc NC milling machine. According to the design concept and functionrequirements of the open NC system. Complete the key technology of the researchand design for hardware components of the NC system.2) According to the function and design requirements of short arc millingmachine NC system. The system divided by the idea of modularization. The moduleshould be divided according to the structure and function block of the system as theprerequisite. According to the needs of developers and users. For the layout anddesign of the man-machine interface of the system. Through PCI bus, software,hardware interface. Motion control card can be connected with the upper and lower machine. According to the need of function of short arc NC milling machine,completed the development of each function module.3) To design a short electric arc NC milling machine for the study of short arcmilling theory and experimental. The NC system is developed Combined with thesystem’s hardware and software. The system software is based on Delphi softwaredevelopment platform. It consists of basic operation module, program managementmodule, parameter setting module, display module, motion control module, NC codeprocessing several modules module, trajectory simulation module, system diagnosismodule, network communication module and the tool wear compensation module etc.In this paper are described in detail.4) Use the manufactured and developed short electric arc NC milling machine,matched with the developed CNC system, completed the system integration test. Fullyverified the feasibility and applicability of the system.
