Wool powder/viscose blended fiber is a kind of new protein cellulose blended fiber thatis produced through the technological process of stirring, filtering, deaerating and spinning.Wool powder keeps highly stable structure characteristics of wool protein due to theproduction process without any chemical treatment. Moreover, one of materials of woolpowder/viscose blended fiber is wool powder which is made by abandoned wool staple fibers,recycling these waste materials can reduce the waste of natural resources and this point isimportant to come true the objective of continuing development. This article is studying onthe structure and dyeing properties of wool powder/viscose blended fiber to determine itschemical composition and structure, and obtain the optimum processing parameters when theblended fiber is dyed with acid dyes and reactive dyes. This study provides theoretical basisfor industrialized production and has practical value.This article is mainly studying on the structure and dyeing properties of woolpowder/viscose blended fiber. The structure and dyeing properties of wool powder/viscoseblended fiber are compared with other protein/viscose blended fiber (pearl protein/viscoseblended fiber and pupa protein/viscose blended fiber) and viscose. The structure and dyeingproperties of wool powder/viscose blended fiber are also compared with blended fiber thatcontent5%、10%、15%、20%wool powder respectively. The FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM,WAXD and TG analysis are used to study the chemical composition and structure of woolpowder/viscose blended fiber. Moreover, the dyeing rate and the effect of dyeingtemperature、dosage of soda ash and pH value on the dye-uptake of the blended fiber arestudied, and thus the optimum processing parameters are obtained.The experimental results show that the structure of wool powder/viscose blended fiber issimilar to viscose and the blended fiber mainly presents the structure characteristics of viscose.However, the dyeing properties of wool powder/viscose blended fiber have improved on thebase of viscose. Moreover, the structure and dyeing properties of wool powder/viscoseblended fiber are similar to other protein/viscose blended fibers and the blended fiber showsthe characteristics of protein/cellulose fiber. The effect of wool powder content on thestructure of wool powder/viscose blended fiber is not obviousness, but the wool powdercontent of blended fiber has certain influence on the dyeing properties. When the blendedfiber is dyed with acid dyes, the dye-uptake of the blended fiber with15%wool powder ishighest, but when it is dyed with reactive dyes, the dye-uptake and the fixation rate of theblended fiber with20%wool powder is higher than other blended fiber.
