The focus of this thesis on the enhancement of a number of wood’s properties could be achieved by the impregnation of wood lumens and cell walls with monomers, followed by in-situ polymerization using high-energy electron beam. We’ve got the best dipping conditions by using orthogonal experiment method to study the degree of influence of different wood and its properties, e.g. mechanical properties. On this basis, analyzed and discussed the same impregnation conditions under different irradiation dose on the rate of weight gain Poplar, and the selection of samples for compressive strength parallel to grain, stripes and determination of compressive strength. The results are as follows:1. The composition and amount of change of methyl methacrylate(MMA), styrene(ST), trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TMPTMA), and maleic anhydride can affect the weight gain rate of the wood..The degree of influence is followed by:methacrylic acid methyl ester (MMA)> trimethylol propane trimethacrylate (TMPTMA)> styrene (ST)> maleic anhydride.The best condition for the rate of weight gain is2000mL methyl methacrylate (MMA),20mL trimethylol propane trimethacrylate (TMPTMA),4000mL styrene (ST) and40mL maleic anhydride at the50kGy level.When the impregnating solution was composed of styrene(ST), methyl methacrylate(MMA), trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate(TMPTMA), maleic anhydride, and the volume ratio of these three reagents was100:100:1:1, the modified poplar weight gain rate was36.65%.When the impregnating solution was composed of methyl methacrylate (MMA), trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TMPTMA), maleic anhydride, three reagents, modified poplar weight gain rate was50.20%.When the impregnating solution was composed of methyl methacrylate (MMA), styrene (ST), maleic anhydride three reagents, modified poplar weight gain rate was45.24%;When the impregnating solution was composed of three reagents of methyl methacrylate (MMA), styrene (ST), trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TMPTMA), modified poplar weight gain rate was30.27%.2. Taking into account the effects, economy, the composed of methyl acrylate, methyl (mL):Styrene (mL):trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (mL): cis maleic anhydride (mL)(V/V,100:100:1:1) and irradiation dose of20kGy were the best condition. At this condition, the micro Poplar modified weight gain was30.80%.3. There were a significantly improved of the micro plasticizing modified poplar parallel of grain compressive strength and stripes compressive strength compared with control samples. The highest of compressive strength parallel to the grain was up to58.1MPa, and the highest of the stripes compressive strength was up to11.6MPa.4. Application of10wt%sodium hydroxide pretreatment1h, impregnating liquid composition of methyl methacrylate (mL):Styrene (mL): trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (mL):Maleic anhydride (mL)(V/V:100:100:1:1), irradiation dose of50kGy, obtained modified poplar weight gain rate was57.06%.
