Along with the rapid development of computer technology, sensor technology and wireless communication technology, the oil Pipelines safety monitoring technology is toward intelligent direction. Traditional oil Pipelines safety monitoring mainly rely on manual inspection to check and record the timing of the various monitoring points parameters, which leads to be inefficient and can’t meet to real-time demand. Although today there are a lot of new safety monitoring technology, their principles is often complex and cost is expensive, which is not convenient to large-scale promotion. This paper proposes a oil Pipelines safety monitoring system gateway based on WSN, this paper focuses on the design of this system gateway’s hardware and software, meanwhile, testing its performance in the last of this paper.This gateway selected the32bit Contex-M3microprocessor STM32F103RCT6based on ARM architecture, the outside modules of processor includes ZigBee module, GPRS module, GPS module, Flash memory, power module and so on. Among these modules, the ZigBee module is responsible to communicate with sensor nodes, but the GPRS module is responsible to communicate with the remote monitoring centre, the GPS module mainly plays the role of orientating gateway and providing real-time clock, the Flash memory mainly is used to storage real-time datas, which is easy to query historical datas and resend datas. Combining the gateway’s actual application environment, the paper also designs lightning protection circuit aiming at the gateway’s12V power interface, of which purpose is to keep gateway’s work security and stability.The design of gateway software mainly includes ZigBee module programming, mirocprocessor unit programming, Flash dynamic memory management designing and so on. Among these designs, the mirocprocessor unit programming adopts the foreground and background system mode that polling all kinds of gateway tasks. This software design is simple and easy, and is able to satisfy application requirement of safety monitoring.The last of this paper tests some gateway’s function, mainly including the ZigBee module’s transmission performance test, the gateway’s whole work characteristic test and the12V power lightning protection circuit test. The result of the test shows that the gateway can meet the application requirement of oil piperline safety monitoring and achieves the intended purpose of design.
