With the rapid development of the economy in our country, the pressure from the environmental protection has increased day by day, and the conflict between environmental monitoring work and limited environmental monitoring resources has become more prominent. It has become an inevitable choice for the environmental protection department to apply modern information technology especially internet technology into environmental protection, monitoring, decision and service. In order to improve the scientific management levels of the environmental protection, it is necessary to provide a strong and consistent impetus for the environmental management by enhancing the integration of information technology and management.According to the environmental conditions of Yangzhou and application requirements, and complying with the relevant national standards and regulations, we have designed the architecture, development framework, network environment and interface for environmental automatic assessing and monitoring platform of Yangzhou, and built various standardized data bases on SQLServer2005, data center on Oracle11g as well as data exchange mode. B/S structure monitoring management system has also been developed based on.NET development platform, and implemented data collection, integration, analysis and mining by applying geographic information, multi-sourced heterogeneous spatial data integration and On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) techniques. In additions, a comprehensive environmental automatic assessing and monitoring management platform has been built covering various environmental management objects such as air, water, radiation sources, solid waste disposal, auto-exhaust detection and so on. Therefore, these applications aim to made useful exploration and practices in improving the environmental management level and ability of the city’s environmental management department.
