Ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, can alleviate acute or chronic rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and soft tissue rheumatism attack. It is used to treat mild or moderate pain such as dental, obstetrics, orthopaedic surgery pain and pain caused by sports injury of soft tissue of the muscles, bones. It also can relieve headaches and pains of non-rheumatoid arthritis of inflammatory bursitis and tendinitis. It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects for gout. It can also be used for high fever caused by the common cold or influenza. Ibuprofen has been more favored by consumers since the advent, because it has stronger effects on anti-inflammatory, pain-relief and defervescence than aspirin, phenylbutazone and acetaminophen.Ibuprofen synthetic processes mainly include the traditional Boots process and the latest BHC green synthesis process. After many years of exploration, Shandong Xinhua Pharmaceutical Co. LTD has adopted the improved synthesis process, which used the butyl benzene as the starting material, and through the1,2-rearrangement of the process. The synthesis process of Ibuprofen is divided into chlorine ketone process, condensation process, rearrangement process, hydrolysis process, acidification process and refined process. Chlorinated alcohol, the hydrolysis reaction by-product, turns into cyclopropyl-ether after etherification reaction, and turns into neopentyl glycol after hydrolysis by acid. The neopentyl glycol can be used back for condensation process. The hydrolysis reaction by acid is improved into pressurized reaction from the atmospheric reaction, which shortens the process time, increases the yield and the utilization ratio of raw material. We calculate the quantity of material according to the proportion to the intermediate instead of a fixed amount in the condensation reaction process. This improves the qualified rate of condensation reaction and reduces the consumption of raw materials and energy consumption. Reducing the temperature of hydrolysis reaction and optimizing the cooling crystallization process can reduce the energy consumption and the consumption of petroleum ether. In addition, we optimized the refined and crystallization process against foreign customer complaint of agglomerate problem. This solved the agglomeration and, at the same time, improved the yield. According to the demand of customer, we controll the dropping speed and temperature, and add water in order to improve the degree of supersaturation. After static crystallization, and we continue to cool by stirring. Through this gradient cooling and crystallizing way, we improve the Ibuprofen bulk density ultimately. This new technology has been applied patent.
