With the development of science and technology, the development tendency of hydraulic support certainly towards the safety, reliability, energy efficiency, serialization, and diversification. Its design method is toward the direction of digitization, automation, intelligence. More and more advanced techniques and methods have been appling to the design of the hydraulic support. In this paper, the research and development of the Caving hydraulic support three-dimensional CAD system is finally completed with the3D CAD technology and database management systems (DBMS) by programming in VC++language.Taked the Caving hydraulic support as example, design of typical supporting type hydraulic support is completed by use of classic design theory and method, such as type selection, structures design, force analysis, and strength calculation. The three-dimensional solid models are built up by Pro/E software, an assembly model is obtained. And then, the secondary development for Pro/E is completed by using Pro/Toolkit and pragramming in VC++. At the same time, a DBMS for the hydraulic support models is set up with the SQL Server. In this way, the models are managed in high efficiency. So, the users enter the design parameters in accordance with the system prompts, the component models and assembly model of the hydraulic support are easily regenerated and efficiently managed with the3D CAD system.The research of this paper achieved the parameterization and automation of design, digitization and standardization of products. It is not only to improve the standard and efficiency of design, shorten product development cycle, but also to improve product quality and market competitiveness. Therefore, it has an important theoretical significance and practical value.
