With the constantly mature of parametric design idea and the developing of the computerscience and technology continuously, mechanical product’s parameterization design hasbecome an inevitable trend. In recent years, CAD has been widely used in various machineryindustries, and the secondary development which based on it can greatly reduce the designers’repetitive work. The cutting head participates in the coal rock’s cut directly, and it is the keycomponents of the roadheader. According to the complex structure, more design parameters,design process more complicated, the method of parametric design simplifies the design processand shortens the design cycle of product greatly, improves design efficiency and product quality.In the integrated development environment of the VC, developed3D parametric designsystem of the cutting head of longitudinal roadheader with MFC and Pro/E secondarydevelopment kit Pro/TOOLKIT, including: the establishment of the program interface, menusand dialog technology based on MFC, database access technology and the establishment ofmodel library. Through the system, designers can achieve interactive design in the visualizationplatform, and achieve the automatic update of cutting head parts and assembly, the assemblymodel can be built into ANSYS software for simulation analysis to check the rationality ofdesign.The design method based on Pro/E parameters is general, provide valuable experience forother design of similar products, great reference value.
