In order to improve the fogging problems in cars, the fogging test methods andtest conditions that affect the fogging test results were discussed, finishing agents thatcan achieve the fogging and functional standard for polyester and hemp fabrics usedin cars was selected, the paper also studied the influence of dyeing and finishing ofthe fabrics on the function and fogging characteristics, and the structure of thecondensing components were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy. The study shows that: the test results of gravimetric method and reflectionmethod for fogging test is not comparable. As for the gravimetric method, the highertest temperature, the higher value of the fogging test results, for reflection method, thehigher test temperature, the lower cooling temperature, the longer test time, the lowergloss values. The fogging value increases after functional finishing and dyeing of thefabrics, and the multiple functional finishing can get higher fogging values. Thehigher K/S value, the higher fogging value. Agents like flame retardant ATP(forpolyester), PYROVATEX CP(for hemp), water repellent RUCO-GUARD AFH(bothfor polyester and hemp), and anti-UV finishing agent DM-3090(for hemp) canachieve a satisfied effect both on functional and fogging characteristics under theiroptimal process. Infrared spectroscopy analysis showed that: the main condensingcomponents of flame retardants are hydro carbons, carbonyls, and P=Os, ofwater-repellent agents are unsaturated hydrocarbons, ketones and ethers, of anti-UVagents are unsaturated hydrocarbons, ethers, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
