The mineral resources are essential material basis that the mankind depends on for existence and development. In recent years, the national infrastructure is developing rapidly, which stimulates the exploration strength of the mineral resources. However, hidden dangers such as backward mining technique, chaotic managements, poor security investment, lag behind legal construction and so on exist widely in the open-pit mine. A long time, safety accidents happen frequently, and are reported on newspapers, security production situation is grim. So, in order to control and reduce the harmful factors and improve the safety situation, it is very necessary to carry out safety assessment on open-pit mine.A open-pit mine in JiangXia is the object researched in this subject. The safety system engineering theory and method will be introduced into the study on blasting accidents in the open-pit mine, to explore the possible risk factors and evaluate the safety situation, as a result, getting the safety grade, and putting forward the corresponding security countermeasures. At first, though on-the-pot detailed survey, the theory of hazard installation was applied to recognize the hazards of blasting process, such as blasting equipments storage and transport, rock drilling, charging and plug, network connection, alert and initiation. In addition, the cause-effect graph was build to state the correlation clearly. Secondly, building the fault-tree of blasting injury on the basis of the principle and method of Fault-Tree Analysis, and making qualitative analysis to the fault tree and putting forward some safety measures. At last, to improve the safety checklist with analytic hierarchy process and applied to the safety assessment of the open-pit mine.As a result, the safety grade was determined by the records given by the experts, put forward the improvement measures, and management suggestion in accordance with the harmful factors.This topic is limited to the safety assessment of the open-pit mine in JiangXia, and it puts forward some security and improvement measures. It is guiding meaningful. Besides, it can be referenced by other open-pit mine and similar project.
