Hydraulic disk brake, an important component of a coal cutter, has properties of simple structure, small volume and large brake moment. The brake’s reliability plays a vital role in stability operation of the equipment and safety work of the operator.The Operating Principle and Structural Characteristics of hydraulic disk brake are introduced in the paper. People can not judge brake’s failure extent accurately in the course of using because friction material needs to be replaced periodically by experience. According to the present situation, hardware and software systems are designed for measuring the temperature and wearing capacity of disk brake under braking. Using temperature sensor and displacement sensor to detecting, microcontroller to date processing and analyzing, the system realizes on-line monitoring and storage of the temperature on the friction material surface and the displacement of wearing capacity. The system will give alarm signal either temperature and displacement beyond the ranges or thermal fatigue resistance of friction material exceeds the limit.The successful development of coal cutter Hydraulic disk brake intelligent system solves the problem that people replace friction material frequently by experience, provides scientific basis for the replacement of friction material on Hydraulic disk brake, reduces the waste of labor and material effectively, decreases the hiding trouble, and improves coal cutter’s reliability. Therefore,the intelligent system has great application values.
