The heavy oil processing process in Sinopec LuoYang Branch has been changedwith the implementation of renovation project for the fuel quality upgrade. Theproduction mode of road asphalt, which is one of the important products of SinopecLuoYang Branch, also needs to be improved.The processing capacity of slurrytopping can’t match the road asphalt’s process, so we should expand and reconstructthe processing capacity of slurry topping in order to increase the economic efficiency.The expansion and reconstruction of slurry topping need to make best useof existing equipments in order to save expenses. Therefore, the key equipments, suchas the slurry topping tower, heating furnace and so on, should be accounted beforereconstruction.After analyzing the existing problems of slurry topping tower, the measures forlocal transformation were proposed in this paper. The inlet temperature of rawmaterials, the vacuum of tower, the stripping steam of bottom were studied by use offlow sheeting software PRO/II. The results showed that the proportion of light oilslurry declined and the proportion of weight oil slurry increased as the temperatureand the vacuum increased. The influence of stripping steam of bottom on the productswas very small in the fields of our study. Based on the above law, the operatingcondition of slurry topping tower was also studied when the inlet amount was35t/h,and the result was that it can match the demand of the expansion and reconstruction ofslurry topping.As the processing amount of slurry topping greatly increased, the operatingcondition of heating furnace was changed. The heating furnace was simulated by useof heating furnace process calculation program FRNC-5PC. The result was that: theprocessing amount of heating furnace changed from1.36MW to2.05MW, the furnacetube pressure rised from0.19MPa to0.7MPa., Three fuel burners were changed to onemany of the air gun high fuel burner, the lining of the heating furnace was modified,and the afterheat of smoke was recycled. The Pipelines and move equipments ofslurry oil and raw materials, light oil slurry, weight oil slurry, the co-ordinate systemwere also modified.Moreover, the road asphalt production status was researched by reviewing therelated literatures, and the advice was also provided to Sinopec LuoYang Branch.
