As a large energy consumption country, the characteristics of China’snatural sources can be summarized as rich of coal, lack of oil and short ofgas. Coal takes an important part of China’s one-off resources. China isboth of the largest coal exploration and the largest consumption countryin the world with the second largest coal reservation. How to use coal in amore effective and cleaner way is the China’s long-term strategicdevelopment target.Chemical industry is one of the most important parts of China’seconomic and coal is its main raw material. Coal gasification technologyis the process to transfer coal to gas raw materials for many otherindustries and is the core part of the coal chemical industry.Based on a revolutionary advanced gasification technology, which isdeveloped by Pratt&Whitney Rocketdyne, this thesis will analysis andstudy on the feasibility of its launch in China’s market. The analysis part contains three sessions: the need and development of coal gasification technology in Chinese market, technical feasibilityand economic rationality of PWR gasification technology. In the first session, the thesis will use PEST model and Porter5forcesmodel as analysis tools to discuss the situation from both external andinternal environment of the gasification technology market in China. Inthe second and third session, the thesis will make comparisons among thePWR gasification technology and other two main current ones (Shellgasification technology and Texaco gasification technology) in the marketfrom both technical and economic aspects. At last, the thesis provides conclusions and suggestions for thefeasibility of PWR gasification technology launched in China bysummarizing the analysis from the market, technology and economicsaspects with SWOT model.
