In the business development of China’s road construction, there have been also anincreasingly seriou environmental problems. Highway construction not only have caused alarge number of resource consumption and ecological destruction, but also had a seriousenvironmental pollution. By introducing and applying the assessment on the road,environmental impact analysis based on Life Cycle Assessment grasped the source ofpollution in the highway engineering materials, established environmental impactassessment system of base course materials, and benefited for promoting the sustainabledevelopment of road construction.This paper first qualitative analysis the concepts, development, and the basicframework of the life cycle assessment. Then it researched the pavement materialsenvironmental impact assessment on the basis of the life cycle assessment scientifically, inview of the engineering characteristic of pavement materials. Finally, the thesis analyzedthe situation of heavy metal ions and radioactive pollution basic phosphogypsum basematerials for case study, and analyzed its environmental impact on the basis of thepavement materials environmental impact assessment.By adopting improved analytichierarchy process to calculate the weights, the thesis analyzed and indentified the Lifecycle stages and the environmental impact types which had the larger environmentalimpact. Through the application the pavement materials environmental impact assessmentinto phosphogypsum base materials environmental impact assessment,we obtained theconclusion that to reduce the dosage of lime, and finded ways and means to improve it,which had the important significance in reducing resources consumption and environmentpollutions.
