Hedong Coalfield is the producing base for coking coal in China, whichdeveloped mainly thick coal seam.With retaining30m pillar pulling, settingaside the end of an gas alley, ventilation of double U-shape, face mining hasbeen widely adopted. It has some disadvantages what roadway suppots, alarge number of opening, low recovery of the resources,etc. With none pillarpulling and the advantage of ventilation of Y-shape, this paper has studied thegob-side entry retaining on high gas and great cutting height, which based onthe underground the Xipo coal mine’s mechanixed mining face. There mayfundamentally solve tense questions of workface&heading face, lead toefficiencies, saving of the resources, reduce cost of opening entried, bring tosafety and apply value of the sustainable development.This thesis combined the existed findings of gob-side entry retaining andthe real geologival conditions of Xipo coal mine, roundly analysed someaspects of the stopping, filling body beside roadway, controlling theremendous movement of coal beam, supporting force of backfilling mass,system of ventilation, based on18205work face. Based on controlling theremendous movement of coal beam, the paper put forward the new theory that have piled up damage of coal beam up. And this theory have been used inXipo coal mine. Using analytical mechanics mothod, the studied deformationand breakage on gob-side entry retaining from driving to second mininginfluence. To combine industrial trial and actual measurement with Xipo coalmine, the paper indicated roundly the efficacious mining operation ofgob-side entry retaining.The reseach indicated some reasonable parameter of filled body andtechniques of controlling the stability of the surrounding rocks of stopes androadways, what includes roadway support of the gob-side entryretaining,reinforce filling body and supporting during coal operation.Theremore, the paper indicated creatively the reinforce measure that set some steelmeshed in filling body.There reinforced greatly support of filling body tosurrounding rock, to avoid hard nuts of reinforcing filling body beside, andreduced cost of roadway maintenance.According to practical construction experiences, the theory this paperstudied has been verificated right, And the preferable technical&economiceffects were obtained, which has good performace to be the reference modeland popularization value based on coal mine of similarity geology condition.
