The progress of human society is closely related to the development of materialsscience. Mesoporous materials, one of the new materials with specific properties, have appeared in recent decades. Much attention has been paid to the novel M41Ssilica mesoporous materials (particularly MCM-41) since the first report of synthesisby Mobil Company in1992. Subsequently, various mesoporous materials i.e. SBA-15,MSU and PMOs had been successfully synthesized with different surfactant, inorganic species and different assembly lines. Although order mesoporous materialshave not been used in extensive industrial application, they have been widely appliedin many fields such as chemical industry, information technology, biotechnology andenvironment due to the attractive properties of uniform size, a certain mechanicalstrength, chemical stabilities and the continuous adjustment of the pore size in therange of2-50nm.With the environment pollution being more and more worst, especially theshortage and pollution of water resource, more attention is paid to environmentalprotection issues and water quality. Due to the limitation of the traditional watertreatment ways and processes, it is hard for them to meet the people’s demand of freshwater. The adsorption method is one of the effective methods for wastewatertreatmeng. In this thesis, great efforts have been devoted to synthesize organic-inorganicmesoporous composites including phenyl-functionalized ethane-bridged PMOs andpore diameter adjustment of phenyl-functionalized SBA-15. The adsorption propertiesof these materials were also been investigated. The thesis consists of four parts:In Chapter1, classification, synthesis, mechanism, modification, pore diameteradjustment, applications, characterization of the ordered mesoporous materials aresummarized in literature review. In Chapter2, phenyl-functionalized ethane-bridged mesoporous silica materials(Ph-PMOs) were synthesized for the first time via direct method. Samples werecharacterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), small-angle X-ray diffraction (SAXRD), transmission electron micrography (TEM), thermogravimetricanalysis (TGA) and N2adsorption-desorption. And we also investigated the effect ofadsorption for (naphthalene, phenanthrene and anthracene). In Chapter3, pore diameter adjustment of phenyl-functionalized SBA-15wassynthesized for the first time via direct method. Samples were characterized by fouriertransform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), small-angle X-ray diffraction (SAXRD),transmission electron micrography (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and N2adsorption-desorption.In Chapter4, phenyl-functionalized mesoporous materials with different porediamete were used as adsorbents. At the same time, the effects of temperature andinitial concentration on adsorption naphthalene were investigated.
