The CAPP technology of injection mold can improve the production efficiency and competitive strength of the injection mold enterprises effectively. At the same time, CAPP, as a bridge between CAD and CAM, plays an important role in the manufacturing informatization. But in the production process of injection mold, the consistency and informatization of parts information between design and manufacturing are not enough, and the intelligence of process design also needs to be improved. The crucial technology of parts information extraction and process design-making based on CBR Technology of the injection mold parts CAPP system in the environment of SolidWorks is studied and discussed considering the features of the injection mold parts in this paper.The information of parts runs through the entire production process including structure design, process design, manufacturing and management. The integration of parts information is crucial to the integration of CAD, CAPP and CAM systems. This thesis analyzes the content and classification of the parts of injection mold. The technology of the modeling, extraction and store of the parts information of injection mold which faces the process design is studied. The information model of the parts based on features is built to describe the information of the injection mold parts and a specific database is designed to store the information of the parts.The core of the process database is parts information database and case process database aiming at realizing the automatic reasoning of the process decision-making based on CBR. At the same time, all kinds of process source database and regulation database are built since lots of process data need to be searched such as the selection of machine tool, cutting tool, measuring tool and process parameters in the process design of injection mold parts.The application of the CBR technology in the process design of injection mold parts is studied from two aspects:intelligence and practicality. The objective of the study is improving the efficiency of process design and the lack of practicality of the current process design method is also taken into consideration. The description model of process instance of injection mold parts based on object-oriented technology is built according to the features of the injection mold parts. This model narrows the similar instance search space based on the parts classification index tree and then gets the instance parts which have the highest similarity with the object parts based on the algorithm called K-NN. At last the process design-making of the object parts is realized based on the process document of the instance parts and prompted by rules.At last a prototype of injection mold parts CAPP system based on SolidWorks is developed on the basis of theory study and an instance is provided to verify the feasibility of the theory study.
