Trass is formed in the process of volcanic eruption. Trass has many advantages, such as good chemical stability, small thermal conductivity and uniform particles. Trass ceramisite is a kind of good adsorbent and can be widely used in the environmental engineering field. Natural filter material has great limitations. In order to obtain good water treatment effect, it need modification to increase its filter material carrier specific surface area and activity center.Trass ceramisite modified research was carried out by using trass ceremisite as the adsorbent and FeCl3, AlCl3as the modification agent, The purpose of the research is to explore the adsorption performance and conditions of copper and nickel ions in wastewater by the trass ceramisite coated by metal oxide. Conclusions are as follows:(1)The optimum conditions of Cu2+-adsorption in wastewater by ceramisite are as follows:pH at6, contact time for40min, Copper and ceramisite weight ratio of1:500. The removal rate up to70%. Among them, aluminum trass ceramisite has the least removal efficiency.(2)The optimum conditions of Ni2+-adsorption in wastewater by ceramisite are as follows: room temperature, nickel and ceramisite weight ratio of1:800, pH at4-10, contact time for60min, Nickel concentration of25mg/L. The removal rate up to90%. The removal rate of ceramisite coated by alumina and iron oxide increased by15%and20%, respectively. Among them, trass ceramisite coated by iron oxide has the least removal efficiency.(3)The orthogonal experiments indicate that the influenced sequence of the experimental factors on the removal rate of nickel is:ion concentration> the amount of trass ceramisite> contact time> pH> temperature. The results show that the optimization of process conditions of trass ceramisite coated by iron oxide is A4B3C4D2E1:the concentration of the ions30mg/L, ceramisite dosage of1g, contact time70min, pH at8, room temperature conditions.(4) The results showed that the adsorption of ceramsite to copper and nickel was in line with Freundlich isothermic equation for adsorption, with single-layer adsorption.
