Methyl methacrylate (MMA) floor paint has a feature of super-low curing temperature,rapid curing and no residue of small molecules after fully cured. The floor obtained hasexcellent resistance of acids, alkalis and salts, as well as loads, abrasion, impact and scratch.As the development of technology and living, floor paint should have more function, such ashydrophobicity, to prevent skidding. Thus it is necessary to develop high-performancehydrophobic MMA floor paint.In this thesis, hydrophobic MMA floor paint was investigated and hydrophobic raw resinwas synthesized via suspension polymerization process as functional resin, which was mixedwith addition agents to prepare the paint. According to the principle of moderate molecularweight, large particle diameter and productivity, as well as low agglomeration ratio, theoptimum polymerization condition is that: the shear rate is300rpm, the reaction temperatureis75℃, the amount of disperser, sodium nitrite and Azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) is0.07%,0.2%and5%, respectively. Moderate molecular weight is obtained by adding xylene ordodecyl mercaptans.The synthesis of fluorine-containing PMMA particles modified by perfluoroalkylethylmethacrylate (FMA) was investigated. The results show that with dodecyl mercaptans aschain transfer agent, adding FMA solution with1.5%AIBN and after10-15minutes addingMMA solution containing initiator and dodecyl mercaptans, fluorinated acrylic resin withhigh fluorine amount is produced. The relation of the addition of FMA and the fluorineamount in the product as well as the water contact angle on the coatings obtained wasinvestigated and the optimum addition amount of FMA is13%.Finally the synthetic resin particles were used in the MMA floor paint and theperformance of this film was studied. The results show that the contact angle is larger than100°, pencile hardness is4H, flexility is1mm and adhesion is0level, thus the coating meetthe application requirments.
