The open-pit mine boundary plays a vital role for the entire open-pit mine exploitation design and production control. It determines the ultimate recoverable ore quantity, productivity and service life of the entire mine. There are two main factors, the geometric factor and relevant market economic factor, which affect the open-pit mine boundary. This paper determines the mining limit of Yalang ore section by selecting proper geometric and economic parameters and using computer software from the theory of boundary optimization design. The main research work and content as follows:(1) According to the geological and topographical drawings, the three-dimensional surface model of Yalang mine was established by DIMINE, which laid a solid foundation for the following optimization design of Yalang mine section.(2) The ROCLAB was used to discount the parameters of lab tested rock corresponding to geology situation. The geometric constraints parameters were analyzed by means of finite element numerical simulation software named FLAC.(3) The orthogonal experimental is designed to select the economic parameters, and an orthogonal table with three levels and four factors was used to select the optimum combination.(4) At last, the pit boundary of Yalang ore section was designed by3D visual design software DIMINE.Based on practical engineering, this paper had studied that technical parameter which restricts the open-pit boundary by using the numerical calculation and visual modeling technology. The related technical parameters of boundary optimization had been applied in the design of Yalang mining section, which located in Nadou mining area possessed by Pingguo Aluminum Industry Company. The final optimization results indicated that, through the research in this paper, the open-pit mine technician’s efficiency had been greatly raised, and the accuracy in the open-pit boundary optimization by computer had been improved significantly. Thus, this paper means a great deal on theoretical and engineering application.
