Along with mining depth becoming deep at a speed of decameter per year average, the coal mining industry is developing rapidly in our country. In the process of deep roadways excavation we often meet fractured-altered zone, soft ground stratum, water burst and sand boil, which will certainly to cause unstable wall rock, big deformation and difficult to maintenance, it pose a serious threat to roadways construction safety. If there is no ways to maintain the integrity of the roadway, safe construction and the normal production of the roadways cannot be guaranteed. That can bring unfavorable influence to construction, transport and production. So it is very important to choose support pattern method according to different geological and the location condition. This paper introduces how to apply the pipe roof support technology to the roadway excavation of deep mine, the pipe roof support’s construction methods and techniques are introduced systematically; the effect of pipe roof support are simulated by numerical simulation and compared with which not use pipe roof. Through the field test data and the numerical simulation results show that:the advance of pipe roof technology can very good apply to the excavation of deep roadway, especially the poor rock in the complex geological. Through numerical simulation study we find that the pipe roof technology can great spread the load, effective control the roadway surrounding, reduce surround rock stress and resist the deformation of rock. It is an effective measure to maintain the stability of the roadway and ensure the safety of the construction.Figure63table8reference45...
