Enterprise must pay much attentionon how to test and forecast corrosion of chemical equipment and piping.Ultrasonic thickness technology is commonly used in refining enterprise forcorrosion inspection. But there are some problems in the refining enterprise inusing ultrasonic thickness testing. For example the thickness is not measuredat the fix position and refining enterprise lacks of the right software to analyzeand manage the inspection data.This paper concentrates on ultrasonic thickness technology, which ismost commonly employed in monitoring corrosion in refining enterprise.In the process of selection the thickness management location, the area ofUT is firstly selected by API571. And then this topic suggests to use infraredcamera for inspection weak area and to use portable acoustic emission to test amaximum energy so that corrosion weak point can be selected as the point ofUT.Scientific thickness detection system can analyze the corrosion rate, establish a suitable model of calculating the next inspection date andremaining life and creating the inspection schedule which combining with theRBI to save costs and reduce the production cost and provide the guarantee forsafe production. Both the risk level and related parameters should beconsidered when calculating the corrosion rate and the next inspection timeand predicting remaining life. At the same time analysis method is consideredinto the process of calculation so as to amend the corrosion rate of calculationand to make the remaining life prediction and the calculation of the nextinspection date more accurate and efficient. At last max/average rate is used toanalyze the effectiveness of ultrasonic thickness when calculate the corrosionrate. The number of the thickness monitor location can be increased ordecreased based on the result of the analysisThis system was used in Distillation Unit of Liaoyang PetrochemicalFiber Company to calculate the corrosion rate and assessment of the risk level.Test the thickness using ultrasonic thickness base on the corrosion analysisresults. Through the work we found some hidden trouble of the unit.
