Twin screw pulping extruder is a new kind of energy-efficient pulping machine, which have a good characteristic and broad prospect. For the moment the design methods of twin screw pulping extruder mainly rely on experience, which restricts the design and use of this new equipment.And because of the complication thread geometry parameters, the determine and select of them are very difficult. So it is very important to study further on the theory of twin screw pulping extruder and to optimize design the thread geometry parameters and the distribution velocity ratio of drive system decelerator of it.The paper firstly present the mechanical optimal design method, expound the developing history of screw pulping extruder and the main parameters of the screw, then present the theoretical basis and design characteristic of the optimal design of screw pulping extruder, discuss the optimal algorithm in it and investigate the works done by forefather in screw pulping extruder optimal design.Established the extruding model of twin screw pulping extruder according to the extrusion modeling of it and the screw geometric parameters, deducing three kinds of flow rate theoretical equation of it, set up objective function of the flow rate optimal design, analysis the constraint conditions of the optimal design of it. Through compile and debug the Matlab program, getting preliminary outcome of the flow rate optimal design in thread pitch and spiral angle crown width and spiral depth and pull angle of materials.Through analysis of driving system of twin screw pulping extruder and using Matlab Optimization Toolbox, on the minimum of the total center distance for optimization target, got the minimum values of it.The research work of this paper studies further in depth on design theory of twin screw pulping extruder, provides a reliable basis for selection of thread geometry parameters of twin screw pulping extruder, so it has essential to the design of twin screw pulping extruder.
