Quantum dots (QDs) possess unique optical properties, Therefore, QDs, which areconsidered as the novel fluorescent probes, have elicited a great deal of attentions in thepast decade. In this thesis, microwave-assissted synthetic strategies are developed forpreparation of fluorescent and water-dispersed quantum dots (QDs) and siliconnanowires (SiNWs), which are further utilized for bioimaging applications. The detailsare as follows:(1) The high quality near-infrared-emitting quantum dots (NIR QDs) are directlysynthesized in aqueous phase through a facile one-step microwave-assisted method.Efficient tumor passive targeting in live mice was shown by using the prepared QDs.(2) We present a new microwave-assisted method for one-pot synthesis ofwater-dispersible silicon quantum dots (SiQDs). the resultant SiQDs are promisingbiological probes for long-term and real-time immunofluorescent cellularimaging. These researches provided useful evidence for further nano-biologicalapplications of quantum dots as fluorescent probes.(3) We present a novel kind of multicolor QD-decorated SiNWs,which are directlyprepared in the aqueous phase by a facile one-pot strategy assisted by microwaveirradiation. And they are well-suited to long-term and real-time immunofluorescentcellular imaging.
