Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), called the poly-phenylene sulfide.PPS is a polymer with the main chain formed by the benzene ring connected to the sulfur atoms what is used in textile, the structure is as follow: PPS is a semi-crystalline nature of polymer composed by the benzene ring and sulfur atoms which are arranged alternately, so it has excellent flame resistance, chemical resistance, thermal stability, mechanical property, electrical insulating property, processing performance and so on.In recent years, with the rapid development of science and technology, the profession tends to refinement, people have enhanced the work safety awareness. PPS fiber what is a variety of functions is one of the new high-performance fiber. So PPS fiber can be used to make into protective clothing for firefighters, high-temperature and flame retardant protective underwear for steel-making workers, anti-corrosion and insulation tooling for workers who work in chemical and power. However, the moisture regain of PPS fiber is only0.4% due to there is no moisture groups in the main chain structure of the PPS, resulting the poor comfort condition and sexual healthy in wearing it, which greatly limits its application in the clothing. Therefore, it is necessary to modify the PPS fiber in order to expand the scope of application of the PPS fiber in the clothing.This study use melt blending technology to add PA66and SiO2to PPS, and add moisture absorption and surface adsorption for polymer blend, so the moisture absorption was improved; By grafting poly to the surface of PPS moisture. The results of experiment show that,by using melt blending technology the fracture strength was improved22.6%and elongation at break was reduced21.4%; The dry-hot shrinkage and boiling water shrinkage of moisture was reduced58.6%and27.7%, commercial moisture regain increase to2.09%. Although the absorption was improved, there is a grate gap compared to the comfort of cloth. On this basis, we got SiO2/PA66/PPS blending fiber when the concentration of SiO2is1%. In this way, the mechanical properties and thermal stability was kept, the commercial moisture regain was improved to4.12%, reaching the intended purpose.
