| Tailing pond was considered as one of necessary infrastructures of bargh, its safety was avitally important problem to bargh and people around the tailing pond. Recently tailing pondaccidents happened frequently in our country, and harmed heavily to surrounding ecologicalenvironment and people’s lives and properties. Thus, it is no time to delay to carry out theenvironmental risk evaluation for tailing ponds. And this have highly significance to decreasethe probability of tailing ponds accidents and protect residents and environment in thedownstream of tailing ponds.Now the investigation situation of tailing pond in our country are mostly by means oftraditional ground survey, which has not only advantages but disadvantages, data from groundsurvey has certain limit and subjectivity. At the present situation of RS technology increasingdeveloping, high resolution RS data could be used to achieve large-scale monitoring andverification of tailing pond informations, meanwhile multisource RS data to build interpretationsymbol bank of tailing ponds and improvement on interpretation precision of tailing ponds. Andalso we can use GIS space analysis tools to extract relevant information conveniently, andreflect the basic information of tailing ponds and its surrounding environment for providingtechnical supports to proceeding environment risk evaluation of tailing ponds.Take the Chuan Heng Chemical Industry tailing pond in Fu Quan City as an example.Based on the traditional ground survey, combined with RS and GIS, the monitoring way of“ground-space system†was adopted to extract surrounding environment information of tailingponds like perimeter and area, and space distribution information like pond type, dam height,downstream slope, downstream of twists and turns, and risk receptors around tailing pond,through visual interpreting and spatial analysis. In the meantime, based on the fundamentalconception of environment risk, the environment risk indicator system of tailing ponds wasbuilt from both damage and probability aspects. AHP was used to calculate the environmentalrisk indicator of Chun Heng tailing pond, and risk level of tailing pond would be confirmedaccording to this and the risk level classification situation. The results showed that environmentrisk of Chuan Heng Chemical Industry tailing pond was at a lower level, causing relativelysmaller damage to surrounding environment and residents. This is a comprehensive result ofscale, type, surrounding environment of tailing pond and daily management monitoring.Model of environment risk evaluation of tailing ponds was put forward preliminarily tosupply theory basis for enterprise making the next management methods. RS and GIS combinedwith ground survey to monitor tailing ponds was proved a guiding role in risk evaluation oftailing ponds and safety management.Considering defects in many aspects like theory technique methods, relevant researchesshould be carried out in a deep-going way, such as consummating indicator system andevaluation methods, providing the scientific basis for reasonable evaluation of the tailingsenvironmental risk. |
