As more fifty years developed, our country has been a large mining country in the world. Tailing pond is the major hazard as well as the major cantamination as the important establishment that maintain mine production. It threatens the surroundding denizens and establishments. Therefore, there is a very big probability that some accidents will happen. It is necessary for tailing pond to implement risk classification. So it is very important to study all kinds of methods for risk classification, that is the content of this thesis.On the basis of system safety and modern safety management theory,it analyzes at length the deseases influence tailing pond and risks tailing pond exists, with FMEA and checklist, points out that gist and method distinguish major hazards of tailing pond, setting up a index architecture of system risk classification fortailing pond. This index architecure can reflect the real safety status well.The last part of the thesis, bring the theories of fuzzy mathmatics to the area of system risk assessment. Then the thesis introduces the method of fuzzy assessment with the fundamental of fuzzy pattern recognition model, this method can ensure the subordinated vector of safety grade being dispersed. Furthermore,introducing the concept and calculated methods of fuzzy characteristic quantity of risk grade of system. This method can sovle the problem of result distortion by using the most subordinated principle. On the basis of above methods, taking a practical calssification for tailing pond of hongtoushan copper mine in FuShun and get the safety grade of this tailing pond.
