With the rapid development of high-speed rail technology, higher requirements for the quality of rail welding, especially welded joints smoothness were becoming focus. In order to ensure the smooth of welded joints, welded joints need experience grinding processing by high-precision grinding equipment. The domestic equipment is still in its infancy, to some extent, the grinding equipment, was applied to the actual production of the rail mainly, rely on imports. However, the imported equipment is expensive and less convenience. Therefore, there would be more practical significance if researching the dometic rail grinding equipment with indepent intellectual property rights.In allusion to the requirements of the straightness of the welding joints to high-speed railway and reference to the existing rail grinding device control features and rail welding production process, the overall design of precision grinding machine were put forward. Based on above mentioned, using the modular design concept, firstly, a hardware system of signal detection and control of the rail refiner which apply Mitsubishi Q02(H) as the control core was designed. For the selection of positioning module and AC servo system were respectively used in this paper. The hardware system include Positioning control, hydraulic drive unit, pressure drive unit, sensor unit and relay unit. In addition, Based on detailed analysis of rail dimensions and mechanical device, the algorithm of wheel movement trajectory which ensures the dimensions of the welded joints was mentioned in this paper. The analyzing basis of the characteristics of weld height detection device in domestic and foreign grinding equipment, rail exploration of the reference position method by detecting spindle motor current at the non-loading and grinding were proposed. Based on the aforementioned work, some works will be done on the PLC programming of the software, including design of the theme program structure, detecting the spindle motor current and the program of wheel setting and grinding. Finally, online debugging and simulation of the developed refiner control system will be done to find out the logic errors of the program. The result shows that, the device designed achieves the satisfactory function of grinding of the welded joints and controls well. As a consequence, the ideas of the control system can provide a sort of basic proposal for future research and application.
