Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a processing mode, which works in a certain work medium, relying on Spark discharge between tool electrode and workpiece, to process workpiece material removal.Its characteristic is that a single discharge amount of material removal is very small, so it can be used to process some materials hard to process by conventional processing methods and special shaped processing.Tool electrode plays a very important role in electrical discharge machining,the choice of electrode materials for electrical discharge machining has obvious effects on the processing speed and precision.Therefore, the researchers at home and abroad have been studied extensively on tool electrode materials and obtained some certain research results.The Cr-Cu composite electrode this paper researching is made by electroplating a layer of chromium on the surface of Copper matrix.This paper will be based on the mechanism of EDM, combining with its physical properties and using the simulation software ANSYS to analysis the temperature field of a single pulse discharge in the processing, and using MATLAB to simulate the process of continuous discharge to research combined with the experiment.Main completed the following aspects:(1)It introduces the processing of preparation of the Cr-Cu composite electrode electroplating detailed, and based on this, putting forward a brush electroplating method of the composite electrode, and carries out the brush electroplating method to experiment.(2)Combined with the physical properties of electrode coating materials, It analysis the advantage of chromium plating.It discusses the the pits caused by electrical erosion relying on the basis of the theory of EDM.Through analysis, the hot processing of the spark discharge is the main factor of the material removal.On this basis, it simulations the temperature field of a single pulse discharge by ANSYS and wons the size of electrical erosion pits.(3)In a single pulse discharge for electrical erosion simulation pits size foundation, according to the electrical discharge machining processing,it formulates the process route of the MATLAB simulation of continuous discharge machining.It establishes the contact between processing model and mathematical model in MATLAB, simulations the machining process of copper electrode and compares experimental results and processing.All of these proof this simulation a high predictability and accuracy.(4)On the basis of copper electrode simulation,it analysis the difference between composite electrode and copper electrode and simulation the processing of composite electrode.After analyzing the experiment results, it simulations of the thick coating electrode, and combined with simulation and the experimental results.At last, it makes theoretical analysis on the reason of the composite electrode improving machining processing precision and speed.This paper get a satisfied results on Cr-Cu composite electrode research. Combined with electrical discharge machining, it makes the computer simulation to single pulse discharge and continuous discharge processing, and forecasts the thick coating electrode,which can’t be made.We are looking forward Cr-Cu composite electrode getting a good application prospect in the market after the further research...
