The casting is an important basic craft and technology in mechanical sphere, and iswidely used in the production, transportation, national defense, social life and other aspects.Today, The casting is an important foundation of machinery field craft and technology, andhas been widely used in production, transportation, national defense, social life and otheraspects. Today, casting technology as the traditional process is put forward higher request inprecision, reliability, economy, environmental protection and so on by people. Along with thedevelopment of computer technology, finite element theory, numerical calculation method,image processing technology and computational fluid dynamics, the numerical simulation ofcasting process also get the rapid development, and has become a mature computer simulationtechnology which can be used in scientific research and production practice.In the numerical simulation field of casting process, most of calculation is divided intofilling and solidification process, and most of them are realized by professional castingsoftware. This method makes the simulation process can’t fully describe the practicalproduction process, thus the accuracy and reliability of computational results are reduced, andwill not have engineering practical value. While most of the professional casting software isvery expensive, it can’t be widely applied in various universities and research institutions, so itwill bring certain restrictions in extensive research of casting numerical simulation.This paper base on finite element theory, using FLUENT software which is loaded inlarge general-purpose finite element analysis software ANSYS to simulate three-dimensionalmodel liquid metal flow state and temperature field of casting filling process base on differentporing rate. The fluctuation of molten metal free surface was observed; the temperaturedistribution data on the end of filling was recorded, for further numerical simulation ofcasting solidification process which provided an accurate initial condition.Based on the same analysis method, two complex curved surface 3D model fillingprocess were simulated by FLUENT software, the change of the temperature and free surfacewas observed, the feasibility of using FLUENT to simulate 3D casting was proved.This paper as the premise that the filling simulation of 3D cell body model, based on twodifferent simulation methods that are "temperature uniform, moment of filling" and the initialconditions of solidification process is filling end state, using FLUENT to numerical simulatethe change of temperature field in solidification. The different cooling process of temperaturefield was observed. And the different effect that two kinds of simulation method to numericalsimulation accuracy of solidification process was observed. The fact that the filling simulationresults can be called by solidification simulation in FLUENT software was proved.
